Understand the accounting and tax treatment of leasing – and what it means for lease structures, financial reporting and business decisions.

You don’t need to be an accountant or tax specialist to benefit from understanding how accounting and taxation shape leasing. From how a lease appears in a customer’s accounts to the tax treatment of different finance structures, these considerations can have a real bearing on the decisions made by both customers and finance providers.

This two-part course makes a complex subject easier to navigate, giving delegates a clear understanding of the key accounting and tax principles and, importantly, what they mean in practice.

Across the two sessions, delegates will explore IFRS 16 and changes to FRS 102, how different leases are classified and reflected in financial statements, and the key tax considerations that can influence leasing structures and decisions.

16–17 September 2026 | 9.30am–1.30pm each day | Online

  • Long funding and non-long funding leases – the differences and why they matter for tax purposes.
  • Hire purchase – how its tax treatment differs from leasing.
