FLA Response to CCA Reform consultation
The FLA has responded to HMT’s consultation on CCA reform. We have argued in favour of a simplified regime, based on good customer outcomes, with the duplication of rights streamlined where possible. We call for repeal of the modifying agreements, voluntary termination and unfair relationships provisions.
FLA responds to DfT consultation on modernising vehicle standards
We have responded to the Department for Transport's consultation on modernising vehicle standards, with our response focused on proposals relating to the implementation of new vehicle tampering offences and the application of these to vehicle mileage fraud (clocking).
Government proposes new measures to tackle vehicle tampering
The Government has released plans for the future of transport in the UK with the intention of developing a national framework to adapt the regulation of vehicles. As part of this work a consultation has been launched which focuses on a range of areas including on vehicle safety, security and standards (including environmental standards).

BEIS launches consultation on reforming competition and consumer policy
Yesterday the Government Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) launched a consultation outlining proposals for reforming competition and consumer policy. The CP is introduced by the Secretary of State, Kwasi Kwarteng MP as an important workstream under the Government's COVID-19 recovery plan – Building Back Better: our plan for growth with the proposals seeking to develop a more competitive UK economy that operates open and fair markets, provides choice and maintains high consumer standards and protections.
Government publishes transport decarbonisation plan
Today the Government has announced and published its transport decarbonisation plan which aims to provide a ‘greenprint’ to cut emissions for the whole transport sector to reach net zero by 2050. Additionally a 2035 delivery plan for transitioning to zero emission cars and vans and a consultation on a carbon dioxide emissions regulatory framework for all newly sold vehicles have also been published.
